Unusual choral repertoire 2 - Mendelssohn

Last Saturday, 21 November, I dropped in on Leighton Buzzard Festival Chorus's Messiah rehearsal and then drove on to Bedford Choral Society's concert, a Mendelssohn programme.  I had not heard Die Erste Walpurgisnacht before - a setting of words by Goethe - it's a great piece (almost Wagnerian at times) and Ben Thapa and Quentin Hayes relished the opportunity of singing some unusual repertoire.  The Lobgesang formed the second half - again a tour de force for Ben Thapa.
